THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2015: H IS FOR HERE AT THE GRAND OLE OPRY:

 WELCOME TO THE EIGHTH LETTER
IN THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2015:
I CHOOSE A SONG TITLE
THEN WRITE A POEM:
H IS FOR HERE AT THE GRAND
OLE OPRY.
RECORDED BY DANIEL O DONNELL
FROM THE ALBUM
LIVE FROM NASHVILLE:
 I went to Nashville TN,
Some years ago.
To see Daniel at The Ryman Auditorium
How I loved it so.

We stayed at Gaylords Hotel,
Excellent place to stay.
I would love to return there
Even though it's a long, long way.

We visited The Grand Ole Opry,
Where tourists were shown around.
The "Green Room" was shown to us
Also dressing rooms on the ground.

We then stood at "Centre Stage"
Where  so many greats have stood.
Then the guide told us to sing a song
Just as if we would.

Eventually he persuaded us,
To sing"You Are My Sunshine"
To think we sang at The Grand Ole Opry,
Did our hearts just fine.

It was a lovely day,
Full of memories I recall.
Singing there on Centre Stage,
We really had a ball
Me on Centre Stage

  1. Ha, ha! That is a great story! Nice photo.
I have never been to the Grand Ole Opry, however, I did go to Second City in Chicago. That was fun. I was underage at the time and wanted to try to see if I could sneak by and get an alcoholic beverage because my friends were making it work... so I ordered the only drink I could think of because I didn't know many alcoholic beverages. I ordered a Shirley Temple and was shocked when the waitress got it for me with no problem!!
It was really good, but not very strong.... ;-(

    2. The funny part of the story is that I did not know it as a teenager but Shirley Temples are nonalcoholic! So of course the waitress had no problem bringing it to me!

  3. That was special. I've been to the Grand Ole Opry for a performance but did not get a tour. It is always a thrill to stand on a stage.

  13. Yvonne, you look happy singing on stage :) Not sure I could have done that!
I saw Tammy Wynette perform in Nashville, not at Grand Ole Opera, but outdoors at a popular hotel. Can't remember name, but it had beautiful gardens and walkways, and lots of tourists. It was such a treat seeing her, because she was ill and died a short time later.
