WELCOME TO THE 19TH LETTER
OF THE A TO Z CHALLENGE: 2015
I WILL STILL CONTINUE TO CHOOSE A SONG TITLE
THEN WRITE MY OWN POEM:
S
is for
SMILE:
RECORDED BY NAT KING COLE:
Every day I wish you peace,
That will last the whole year through.
Share a smile to e'er comes your way,
It's a priceless thing to do.
Someone who may be lonely.
It will brighten their solitary day.
Someone who may be down on their luck
It will cheer them on their way.
A smile may be a facial expression
To others it means so much more.
Do it wholeheartedly,
Not as though it's a chore.
A genuine smile is worth it's weight in gold,
More than money can buy.
Just smile through your day,
As you go passing by.

I try to smile at everyone and say a kind word. It might be just enough to brighten their day.

As much bad stuff that can happen, never having enough money for a lot of things... smiles are free and can make the bad stuff be gone just for a moment.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Jeremy, a smile is free.

A smile from someone or lack of it can make or break a day. I've always chosen to smile at others. You never know. Love this verse.

And didn't Nat King Cole have a fabulous smile? Between that and his wonderful voice, he was destined to be a star.
ReplyDeleteThat he was, a great singer of all time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting,
Yvonne.
I love Nat King Cole...Unforgettable is one of the songs my parents danced too...and my mom would croon it to my dad when he would get dressed up. Loved the poem. I have really been enjoying your writing.
ReplyDeleteActually I love all music, classical to pop. Thanks for your comment, Yes Nat was a great singer and will always be remembered.
DeleteYvonne.
I remember that song. Beautiful. Smiles are what I notice about a person. I used to have a poster in my classroom that said "If you see someone today without a smile, give them one of yours." Thanks for a beautiful poem, Yvonne.
ReplyDeleteGood poster that was, So pleased you have dropped in again and thanks for the lovely comment.
DeleteYvonne.
This is so true, but I have to remind myself sometimes that a frown can cause damage, and a smile heal almost anything. (I really like Nat King Cole....and his daughter)
