THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2015: V IS FOR VIVA ESPANA:

WELCOME TO THE 22ND LETTER OF
THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2015:
ONCE AGAIN I HAVE CHOSEN A SONG TITLE
AND WRITTEN ONE OF MY OWN POEMS:

V
is for
VIVA ESPANA
RECORDED BY SYLVIA:
One Wednesday I decided to visit my son,
Who resides in Sunny Spain.
My batteries I needed to recharge
Also to get away from the UK rain.

I took the 10-05am flight from Bournemouth,
The flight was calm and smooth.
When I arrived at Malaga,
It was so crowded one could hardly move.

My son was waiting there for me.
I hadn't seen him in over a year.
He gave me a big "Bear Hug"
Which reduced me to tears.

Arriving at his apartment
I was greetd by Angus the dog.
Angus is a basset hound,
So solid as a log.

We then went for a meal
Joined by Kelly, my son's wife.
I am very proud of my daughter-in-law
Seems I've known her all of my life.

We chatted for hours
Catching up on all the news.
Suddenly I was aware of my feet,
Ah, those blessed new shoes.

The next day they took me shopping,
We also visited very"Old Spain".
Way up in the Mijas mountains
It was so beautiful , hard to explain.

The evening, another meal out,
Joined by Jan, Kelly's mum.
A lovely time had by all,
I was pleased I decided to come.

The next two days were spent alone,
As both had jobs to go.
Angus the dog and I had fun,
As to the park we did go.

The weather was beautiful,
Hot, not a cloud in the sky.
I met up with some old friends,
My how the  time did fly.

My last night there
Out for another meal.
My waistline I will have to watch.
With my tummy oh so full.

The next day I arrived home.
After an emotional farewell.
I won't leave it another year
That's a promise I can tell.

  1. And if you moved back to Spain, it definitely wouldn't be a year.

  2. Sounds like a lovely trip Yvonne. After the UK I bet the sunny weather was lovely. I think you're right, don't let another year go by before visiting again. Life is too short not to be hugged by our kids. :-)

  3. Hi! Ah...a wonderful trip and time with your son and his wife :) Hope they are still happy and maybe parents now? Life sure has a way of speeding up. Cherish those times. My young (but not so young anymore) son had 3 little boys now.

    1. Yes the years do slip by especially when one gets over a certain age.
I wish my two children here in the UK would realise that.
      Thanks for the comment.
