THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2015: X IS FOR XANADU:

WELCOME TO THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2015:
I WILL CHOOSE A SONG TITLE
THEN TONIGHT I WILL
ENDEAVOUR TO WRITE MY OWN POEM:
(DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH)

X
is for
XANADU:
 The city of xanadu
Was in China ,
It was connected to Kubal Khans Empire,
Rich in slendour, opulance and all things finer.

Poet Samul Taylor Coleridge
In one of his poems about it he wrote.
Which was said in the film
And this I qoute.

The song "Legend of Xanadu"
Was recorded here in the UK.
By Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mich and Tich
Which reach in no.2 in 1968 so they say.

The film Xanadu was released in 1980
Which such stars as Olivia Newton John
Also Gene Kelly.
Situated around a nightclub, what fun.

It was voted one of the
Worst films of the year.
Which surprised me as I viewed it on TV,
And a film I held dear.

  9. Hello there.
These last few letters have been tough! Thank goodness the challenge is almost over!!!
    Thanks for sharing.

P.S. You asked where I got the music from on my blog. I created a playlist at Grooveshark.com and use their player to stream the music. Been using them for a while on both mine & hubby's blog and we've not had any problems with service, etc. You have to create an account though, but it's free!

    2. Hello again, Yvonne.
I hope all is well with you. Since I last commented, I've just found out Grooveshark has closed down (as of 30th April) :-(
I am looking into alternative methods/players.

  11. I could hardly wait to see what you did with X. I also saw Tom Jones and Engleburt Humperdink in concert when I was 12. I loved them both. Tom Jones opened with What's New Pussycat. :-)

  12. My family loved XANADU when it came out. We had a copy and replayed it a lot....Pretty crummy movie as I think back but it fit the mood at the time. We loved Olivia and one of Gene Kelly's last performances.
