DEAR DAD:

As it's Father's Day on Sunday
I thought I would write my post today.

DEAR DAD:
I've very often wondered
What you thought of me.
Did I inerit some of your looks
For all the world to see?

You were missing on my wedding day
To walk me down the aisle.
You didn't see the love in my eyes
Or my radiant smile.

I gave you three grandchildren,
A daughter and two sons.
I saw them playing with their dad
They were the lucky ones.

Although my life has been good to me,
There's someone I've never had.
Someone to whom I could say
"Hello  how are you dad?"

For your life ended abruptly
When I was only three.
If you were with us now dear dad,
Would you be proud of me?

  3. This is a sad poem, but a nice tribute. Although my father is still alive, I could relate to most of your poem about you not having a dad around. I'm sorry that he passed away when you were so young.

    1. Thanks for your lovely comment, It was hard for my mum but she brought us up single handed with pride. Not having a dad when I started school it was hardly heard of as there were not many divorces and not many passed away so early.

  4. Your poem brought a tear to my eye. Such a lovely tribute, the sentiments of which I can relate. My own father died when I was young and I often wonder these very same things.

Poignant and powerful, dear Yvonne. How sad he passed when you were so young. I'm sure your beloved father is proud of beloved daughter and her resilience.

    1. Many thanks Gary, for your lovely comment.

As for unfriending you perhaps it was when I requested on my settings not to recieve comments as I can't recall unfriending anyone intentionally.

Hope all is well with you and Penny.
      Yvonne.

    2. Sorry, I didn't explain it very well. Each time your blog changed to a new name, your followers icon on my site would vanish. Some sort of a glitch with blogger, no doubt.

      Thank you, Yvonne.

      Gary :)
