DEAR JOSHUA OUR FIRST GRANDCHILD:
(this coming Saturday my eldest grandchild will
be 17 years old. he was born just two months
before my husband passed away:
Welcome to the world and our family,
May your life be filled with love.
In everything you see.
You have a precious mother
Who will give you love and tender care,
Your father looked so proud of you
As you peacefully slept there.
He too was our first child
Not so many years ago.
And we're not ashamed to tell you
How we loved him so.
May your life be filled with laughter,
And always wear a smile,
For we're only on this earth
For just a short while.
So as you grow from baby to toddler,
From boyhood to man.
We'll always remember the first time
We saw you.........love from your
Grandad and your Nan.

Hi Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteIt seems that in just a mere blink of an eye, they go from little babies to early adult. What a loving poem to the then newly born Joshua.
Thank you and take care of your good self, Yvonne.
Gary
Thanks Gary for your lovely comment.
DeleteHope you're feeling better.
Yvonne.
What a great poem for him. Lucky you to have grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dixie, I haven't seen my grandchildren in over five years I'm sad to say.

It is always a joy knowing they are around. Grandchildren are blessings no one can take away from us. Visits that come in between are just 'nice to haves' If they come to visit it is nice . If the don't they are still yours! Well penned Yvonne!
ReplyDeleteHank
Thanks Hank, wise words as usual.
