IWSG:

 HAPPY JULY TO EVERYONE

WHO FIXES THE AGES OF TRAVELLING?
A few months ago I had my tavel insurance  renewal,
So duly went to my local bank .
I had to speak with a medical person
As my health issues are  on the policy (as my heart sank)

All went well I'm pleased to say,
My policy arrived a few weeks later.
The cover dates are as follow
Begin 04'0'52015-
03/05/2016.

I was pleased I was covered to travel
As I want to visit my son.
I put the policy away for safe keeping,
Thinking how much travelling is fun.

My birthday was on the 10/05/
Four days after the commencement of the cover date.
I won't reveal my age
But it wasn't in my favour I can state.

Last Thursday I recieved a letter
Confirming my policy was invalid.
My blood ran cold
Thinking of my future travel plans I envisaged.

It appears on the day of my Birthday
I was the age the bank stopped insuring us.
Days of phoning to no avail
I have made quite a fuss.

It appears all insurrance companies
Have different ages when insuring people do stop.
Or don't allow health issues on policies
Which made my heart flop.

So now I have no insurrance
When I need to travel.
Days of sitting in my one berdroomed apartment
Is no fun I can reveal.

Sure I can travel in the UK.
But I like to see Danny Boy
When he visit's the US,
Which gives me tremendous joy.

So who makes the decision
What age people are too old to go away?
Some people act old when they;re in their forties,
I feel young inside........well I've had my say.

  1. I have never even heard of travel insurance. I'd say travel anyway! What's the worst that could happen?

    1. Being Epiletic is a liability and one needs insurrance just incase of having a seizure on the plane or whilst on holiday.
Been fighting my bank all day for their mistake.........I WILL WIN.

  2. What a bummer.
sorry your policy was cancelled. I am not sure what travel insurance is but they shouldn't have taken yours.

  3. What a shame Yvonne! Sorry to hear this! I thought if one wants cover for critical illness perhaps they have a right to impose limits as there are health issues.involved. But for travel they still impose limits? Just can't believe this!

  5. Hopefully, you won't need travel insurance. (Have you ever used it before?) If you feel you need it, check around for other insurance companies.

  6. I hope you manage to find another company to insure you if the bank won't. I know at least two people who have insurance to travel and they are in their 70's/80's with health problems. Maybe do an online search if you are still having problems. Good luck, Yvonne.

    1. I had a great insurance package with the Halifax, but the rudness I have endured because of their error is just not on. Being a customer for 30 years it seems have no bearing. I have been busy looking around but Epilepsy it seems still have a stigma as I have found out.
Thanks for your informative comment it has given me renewed hope.

    1. Perhaps it's only here in the UK that has an age limit and they vary from different insurance companies.
Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.

  8. Oh, how frustrating! I wouldn't think there'd be an age limit. Shouldn't they just be excited that you're traveling even though you're getting older? (but surely still young at heart <3 )
    Happy IWSG Day!

    1. I've got the fighting spirit back and they as you say should be only too pleased that older people can fly away. I am young at heart and love to go down children's slides at the park but to the embarassment of children and grandchildren.

  9. This seems so wrong to me. You definitely need it. That's what insurance is for. Right? Don't give up the fight!
