A ROMANIAN PRAYER:
this is an orphanage in Siret Romania,
Danny Boy was so taken with how the
children were being treated he raised money.
I did 6 poetry postcards including this poem
which raised quite a bit of cash.
Dear God,
Look down on those children, those children of strife,
Who haven't had a very good start in life.
All of them are children without a good home.
No one to love them and call them their own.
Look down on the cripples in wet cots they lay,
Probably been unattended most of the day.
Who long for a hug or maybe a kiss,
Once in a while wouldn't be amiss.
Then there are children those in their teens,
What horror and deprivation have their eyes seen?
Who should be out dancing or playing football.
Not wondering where their next meal will be.....if any at all.
So it's up to us in our far off lands,
To do all we can with many helping hands.
By day Dear God help us all do our best.
But with your watchful eye give them peace as they rest.
Amen.

Such noble thoughts which came to fruition. It takes great efforts to realize and much more to do something about it. The kids would love to hug you for this.Well done Yvonne!

Thanks for your comment Hank, It was very rewarding doing those poetry postcards. knowing one was helping less fortunate than yourself, also it was fun selling them via newspapers and concerts.

That's a touching poem, Yvonne. There is so much poverty in Romania. Most people don't realize how bad it is there.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex for your comment. In all I did 6 poetry postcards which consisted a poem and a picture of Danny Boy, It was very humbling to watch people buy my cards at concerts and also in The US.Thye were also sold through a weekly newspaper here in the UK.
