 LIFE AS A TEENAGER IN THE 60S

I think my generation must be the luckiest alive,

The era of the sixties was abouslutely grand.

With Elvis well established,

There were never a shortage of bands.

In 1961, I met the love of my life,

I think we were soul mates from that day.

We were married two years later,

Before long two sons came our way.

Before I was married I worked in a record shop,

It was the job of my dreams.

Hearing the new releases as they came out,

Life was great so it seemed.

We used to frequent the dance hall

To dance to the hits of the day.

 Hits from Billy Fury and Cliff Richard

Certainly made my day.

Bobby Vee with his "Run To Him"

 Also his "Rubber Ball".

I collected his records in earnest,

I believe I had them all.

Then along came "The Beatles"

Known as "The Fab Four".

 "Love Me Do" and "Please Please Me",

Need I say anymore?

Liverpool produced so much talent,

In the sixty blast.

 Billy J. Kramer and Gerry and the Pacemakers

Were just  two of many that were to last.

Back in 1962,

 Bounced into the British charts,

With "I Remember You".

Jackie wilson and Carl Dobson Jnr.

Both from the USA.

With Reet Petite and Exclusively Yours respectively

For hours I used to play.

 

Cliff Richard went into films.

The Young Ones and Summer Holiday,

The cinemas were packed to capacity,

And to get in didn't cost much to play.

 

Ah yes! Life was grand in the sixties.

No cell phones, pcs, and such.

I'm proud to belong to a great era.

To the Good Lord above, "Thank you very much".
