I'VE COVERED MY MIRRORS:

I'VE COVERED MY MIRRORS:
Since having all my trials and tribulations
My appearance was the last thing on my mind.
Last night however I looked in the mirror,
To me it wasn't very kind.

I need to get my hair done,
I am getting that done next week---fine.
But what I was most shocked at
On my face were more "Tram Lines."

It shook my esteem entirely,
Now I'm not a person who's vain.
But I didn't see them creep up on me,
What with family issues and pain.

Out came all the face creams,
But to no avail.
I again looked into the mirror,
How I wanted to wail.

So I have covered the mirrors ,
I've only two anyway.
But I don't want to see tram lines,
When in the apartment I stay.

I know the saying is
"Beauty is only skin deep"
But dear friends last night.
How I wanted to weep.

  1. Lines and wrinkles are just two things
One must suffer as one grows old.
They make your face look 'lived in'
Well, that is, so I'm told.

You cannot help the march of time
    It happens come what may,
But if it would only leave your face alone
    You'd have a brighter day!

    1. Thanks for your comment Tigermouse,
      Much appreciated I'm sure.
But no matter what my age is,
Tram Lines I want no more.

      I don't sit for hours
      Looking at my face.
I just happend to notice last night,
And felt I'd fallen from grace.

I hope you don't feel the same
When tram lines appear on you.
You may be one of the lucky ones
      And only get a few.

      Yvonne.

  2. Mirrors are naughty as they show just one aspect, the physical aspect. There is more to it in a person.

  3. Can't say I like aging either. But Hank is right. Beauty comes from what's inside.

  4. We won't even talk about grey hair then. I just ignore mine. As Hank said, there's more to us than just our appearance.

  5. Yvonne, I think most of us have the desire to do the same thing at one time or another. I feel your pain.

  6. You sound like me, Yvonne. When I look in the mirror with my glasses off, my skin looks so pretty and soft. When I look in the mirror with my glasses on, I think I'm looking at someone else's face. Where did all those wrinkles come from? It's true, though, beauty is only skin deep. What's inside a person shows their beauty. And you are beautiful.

    1. Thanks for coming by Beverly, I only wear glasses for reading but have them on in front of the mirror was a shock. I still don't know whether it was the glasses that frightened my tram lined face.
