THE THINGS I GET UP TO
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT:
I thought I'd have an early night,
Was in bed by ten.
But by 2 0clock,
I was awake again.
You see I had these excruciating pains
In my leg muscles and backside.
I throught I was going to be a cripple
As tears fell from my eyes.
I hobbled to the kitchen,
To make a hot drink.
Took some pain relief pills
As on the sofa I did sink.
It was while I was sat there,
I thought came to my mind.
Although I only bought the bed in recent months
The mattress was the wrong kind.
You see I need an orthopaedic one,
Having had back surgery many years ago.
So I went to inspect my mattress
Very surprised at what it did show.
It showed "Spring had sprung"
Though Autumn was outdoors.
Off came the pillows, duvet and sheets
As I put them on the floor.
There were bulging springs everywhere
The side I mostly lay.
I said some words under my breath,
Not printable I may say.
So at three o clock this morning
The mattress I did turn.
By now I was feeling weary,
For a good sleep I did yearn.
So now I have to buy another bed,
When money and time permits.
But what to do with this bed,
You see space here is at the limit.

Bummer! Considering that's where you spend a third of your life, the right bed is important.
ReplyDeleteHope I didn't cause the springs to go as when I was unwell I was in bed more.

Yvonne.
Nothing worse than a bed that is uncomfortable. I wish I could afford one of the adjustable beds. My wife wants (and gets) the most hard rock mattress she can find. I like a soft mellow mattress. Sometimes I just have to sleep in my recliner. Hope you get your bed back in order so you can get good rest at night.
ReplyDeleteI had major back surgery back in 1989 and was told by second and top vertabreas were poor and to make sure I had a firm mattress. Think I'll sleep on the floor but the spiders hide there.
DeleteThanks for your great comment Gregg.
Enjoy your week-end.

A good mattress can make all the difference!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shelly, hope now I turned it over it will be more comfy. I did phone the shop where I bought the bed and informed them that 8 months is not along time to have a mattress go wrong.
DeleteHave a good week-end.
Yvonne.
Perhaps get a similar-sized thin mattress (reasonably less priced) and put it on top. If it works it solves 2 problems (costs and bother of getting rid of it) Good luck Yvonne!

That's a good idea Hank, Thanks for your comment and coming by.
