TWAS ON A STURDAY MORNING.............

TWAS ON A SATURDAY MORNING......

I awoken on Saturday morning,
Feeling "Not to bad".
No sign of doom and gloom
And also not feeling sad.

I reached for my phone,
The hairdressers I did ring.
Asked "If it was ok to come?"
"Two thirty" he replied it was a sure thing.

I then proceeded to do
My Saturday regime.
Removed the bed linen
To put them in the washing machine.

I had my breakfast, coffee and medication,
And started to get dressed.
I only got half way through
When someone my door bell did press.

Putting a cardigan over my top half,
Pyjama bottoms still on.
Went to investigate
Who was doing a ding dong.

It was two Jehoval Witnesses,
Preaching the word of The Lord.
I explained I was in a hurry,
And time I couldn't afford.

After a while they departed,
Back to my apartment, keeping an eye on the clock.
When I arrived at the door,
Shock horror it was locked.

No keys or mobile phone on my person,
"Panic" set in".
Only half dressed ,
I opened the front door again.

Asking many passing people
"Please can you assist.?"
Only to be ignored,
Lovely neighbourhood is this.

Then a young couple came by,
Who came to my aid.
To the estate agent
A telephone call he made.

The agent came out,
Bunch of keys in hand.
Found the key to my apartment,
Again life was grand.

Well to cut a long story short,
The hairdressers I made my way.
Plucking up all my courage.
I finally got rid if hair going grey.

I came out feeling ten years younger,
Feeling proud of myself.
As I returned home again,
A feeling better than a great wealth.

  3. Being locked out is not very funny
Especially if you don't have your phone or some money.
It's good that the young couple came to assist
Or your hairdo appointment would surely be missed.

As I read through your poem I was thinking you'd say
That you'd gone to the hair salon still in your pj's!
But things turned out well and your hairdo was grand
Though next time you go out keep your keys in your hand!

    1. It was quite an adventureous morning,
      Being Halloween and all that,
I quite expected during the events,
      To see a black cat.

I can see the funny side of it now,
Though at the time thought what the heck.
I will keep the keys on my person,
      Tied around my neck.

      Thanks for coming by Tigermouse.

  4. There'll always be a kind soul that one meets along the way. A reminder that a ride may not be always smooth in life. Lucky you Yvonne!

  6. What a day! I've learned to recognize the Jehovah Witnesses that stalk my neighborhood by their hats. I hide somewhere until they move along.

  7. Well, I was glad that you were having a happy morning, but not so happy that you locked yourself out. It happens to the best of us. I am, however, glad that you got help and weren't locked out of your apartment all day.

  8. Despite the little setback, this sounds like a good day. Since I live in a gated neighborhood we rarely get any door to door people and never any Jehovah's Witnesses. I see them all over the neighborhood outside our gates though. Occasionally they call on the phone, but that's pretty easy to dismiss quickly.
