THE 2016 A TO Z CHALLENGE: X IS FOR...........

WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO THE 24TH LETTER
OF THE 2016 A TO Z CHALLENGE:
MY THEME IS HOW TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BODY
AND MIND
THE PAUL MCKENNA PHD WAY

X IS FOR

Today I write a personal poem
That's happening to me right now.
It regards out Health Service in the UK,
What I was told today came as a blow.

You see I am Epiletic,
Have been for 32 years.
It has never bothered me,
Or brought me undue fears.

That is until my medication was taken off last year,
The new medication don't agree with me.
My doctor wrote last Novemeber,
To a consultant for me to see.

She today came out and told me,
I can't be seen until this OCTOBER.
Almost five months way,
That's what I do remember.

It appears should I be 10-20 younger,
I would been seen before.
Why should I have to wait?
At my heart strings it did tear.

Tomorrow(Thursday) I am seeking advice,
I will fight this all the way.
I am positive I will win.
In a few more days.
I shall look after my own interests,
I have no-one to stand up for me.
But I WILL see the consultant earlier,
I hope you will agree.

  1. That's not right! Maybe Spain will have better healthcare? You'll need to look into it.

  2. I most certainly agree. Stand up for your rights. That is so ridiculous to make you wait so long. Hang in there. Don't let them push you around.

    1. That's how we older people get treated here in the UK Sherry.

  5. One of my uncles in the UK needed a knee replaced, but because he was "elderly" they refused to do it for him. Fortunately, he could pay for the surgery and had it done. He lived ten more years free of pain. I hate socialized medicine, but it seems that's the way all of us are headed. Hope you can get the help you need, Yvonne.

  8. Go get 'em, Yvonne. That is unfair. Your age shouldn't determine how important your health care is. No one in a civilized country should have to wait that long.

  9. Wrong, this feels so very wrong, but as Lee points out, we all may be headed this direction. I do hope you're able to fight this. You need your medicine, don't they understand this? Keep at it Yvonne.

    1. Thank you Sharon for your most supp-ortive comment, I spoke with various people yesterday but they all seem to agree that waiting lists are long, but I still firmly believe because of my advancing years the priority appointments go to the younger sector.
