A LONESOME COWBOY'S CHRISTMAS:

Continuing my christmas poems
From my books:
A LONESOME COWBOYS CHRISTMAS:
It's almost Christmas on the range,
This lonely cowboy was travelling home.
Longing to be in the arms of his wife,
Little did he know what there was to come.

He was hot and dusty,
So stopped for a well earned drink.
Tended to his faithful horse,
Being home was all he could think.

He mounted his pure white steed,
And went merrily on his way.
He needed to cover another fifty miles,
Before the end of day.

At nightfall he set up camp.
Opened a can of beans.
Had a tot of the hard stuff,
Which he kept in his jeans.

He soon fell asleep,
Exhausted from the trials of the day.
He didn't hear the noise
Of horses coming his way.

There were a gang of desperadoes,
Obviously out for no good.
They stole his supply of water,
Also what was left of his food.

He was in the middle of nowhere.
Not a ranch or person in sight.
When he realised what had happened,
During a very long, long night.

His faithful steed was injured.
So he decided to stay.
They'd been together so long.
Could he leave him? no way.

It was now Christmas Eve.
By now at home he was due.
He wondered what his wife was doing,
His beautiful wife named Sue.

As the dark of another night fell.
Cold and lonely was he.
Both him and horse were hungry,
And were most very unhappy.

He then saw a light,
A vision so beautiful.
It was  the "Spirit of Christmas".
To rescue him and horse so dutiful.

The vision was in the form of a posse.
Alerted by Sue his wife.
They gave him food and water,
Which probably saved his life.

Hours later horse and him arrived home.
To celebrate Christmastide.
He thought how could he have left his faithful friend,
A friend he'd had for a very long time.

*The moral of this poem is human or animal
How can one dicard a friend in need.*
