THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2017: I IS FOR ..........

My theme this year is RHYTHM and RHYME:
Which consists of a song and a poem:
Hope you enjoy:
is for I REMEMBER YOU
by
FRANK IFIELD:
The year this song was released.
Was the year I got wed.
It was as if they knew,
I've very often said
.
As one can imagine,
It's a day ingrained in my mind.
It was a wonderful day,
Even the weather was very kind

Although I'm now alone.
I had thirty five happy years that's true.
And in all honesty I can say.
"I Remember You".

  1. Yvonne,

I don't remember Frank Ifield, "I Remember You", so I checked with Google. This song was released in 1965. I was four years old at the time. I really enjoyed listening to this song. It really has a nice quality about it. I'm definitely going to check for more of his mewsic. DH & I will celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary in June. We dated for three years, so I've been with the same feller for more than 40 years. I reckon I'll just keep him, what do you think? lol Happy A2Zing!

    1. Frank was an Austrailian/British singer, not sure if he made it in the US. It was an old song .

  7. Great song! Frank Ifield was a great singer. I heard a cover by Glen Campbell that was even better; a bitter irony, considering he is in the final stages of Alzheimer's.

Frank's records were released on the Vee-Jay label in the US. That was the label that released The Beatles' first album and first several singles. In fact, as I recall, they got Frank in the deal that gave them The Beatles. The Four Seasons were on Vee-Jay for a while, too. I have a feeling Frank's other records ended up in limbo after Vee-Jay went belly-up.

  8. A great tribute to your husband in the verse. Nice song, hadn't heard this one before. The accent is very British, the yodelling somewhat Julie Andrewish :)

Am enjoying your theme and these melodies.
