WHAT I DISCOVERED YESTERDAY:

WHAT I DISCOVERED YESTERDAY:
Whilst out walking along our lovely beach.
I sat and paused for a little while.
There were children enjoying the springtime sun.
On their faces a radiant beaming smile.

I sat there and thought as I looked out to sea.
Thoughts of bygone life went by.
Thinking of what to do with my life,
As being entirely on my ownsome am I.

I suddenly realised I was not the same me.
Certainly not for the better.
I have been consumed with tears and strife.
If I cry anymore I'd get wetter.

I also realised I was not kind to myself.
Starting at my hair....what a mess.
One has to be kind to one's own mind and body,
I saw the light now I confess.

My plan of action commenced immediately.
Got up and shook myself down.
Put a smile on my lonely face.
Away with that permanant frown.

Well I ended the day at the hairdressers,
A good cut and colour the order of the day.
To be kind to others who are in need,
First one has to be kind to yourself I say.

  1. A state of mind can make all the difference indeed

  2. Always very awkward. I like to say 'I learned this lesson academically'. I have studied and understood the effects of my mindset and lifestyle for a while, but I can rarely ever properly indulge my own needs. My wife has commented before that I'd likely die of pneumonia while caring for her cold because I never seem to be able to put myself first.

    1. Thank you Robert for the lovely comment and welcome to my blog. I find after putting my family first now I am surplus to requirements in their lives I now have more time for myself which before I didn't.

    1. Martin, I treasure my memories but feel that being totally isolated I ought to pay more attention to myself like putting myself first for a while as I've spent many years putting my family fist who no longer need me in their lives.
