OFF WITH THE OLD-- ON WITH THE NEW

OFF WITH THE OLD--ON WITH THE NEW:

What you may not know,
The area where I reside.
Once lived poet's Shelley's son,
Who lived here until he died.

He bought Boscombe Manor,
Just along the road from me.
It has just been refurbished,
It's a wonderful sight to see.

It has become a health centre.
Very up to date I may say.
One can envisage 260 years ago,
When Percy Shelley Jnr. lived out his day.

The large reception area
I can imagine social gatherings.
Such as fancy dress balls
Or other festive things.

The large window at the back,
Adorns a garden area to please.
On looking out to it,
Planted are many trees.

The enormous staircase
Again I envisage years of another day
When visitors such as Robert Louis Stevenson
Was always a frequent visitor to stay.

Also Lord Byron and family
At the manor at times did dwell.
There is also a theatre built
Which in time will be updated as well.

It's now called Shelley Manor.
An appropriate name I think.
Combining the old and the new,
By keeping the Shelley link.
