ISWG: DECEMBER 2020:

Welcome to December everyone I hope it will

be a good month for all.

Thanks to Alex and team for the continued good

upkeep of a great group.

WHEN WRITING IS MORE PRODUCTIVE FOR ME:

I love to try and write poetry,

Have done so for many years.

I started when I was widowed.

When I was still in tears.

I found I could express myself,

And helped me, you I can assure.

So I turned to expressing myself more often,

It made life feel more secure.

Then I  started going to concerts

Of my favourite Danny Boy,

Which took me to many places

Filling my heart with joy.

I began to write about such occasions,

Over the past many years.

I only feel fully productive with writing,

When a new "Outing" appears.

These past few years however

Since the loss of my son.

My writing has not been so frequent,

Not having so much fun.

Then of course this year

With the lockdowns in forsce.

Not venturing outside much.

Have nothing to write about of course.

I will however try much harder

In future I declare.

Writing over the years have been wonderful,

Only when I didn't have a care.

HAVE A GREAT DECEMBER AND CHRISTMAS:

  1. If we can write during this awful year of Covid19, we can write through anything. What a crazy one. Stay safe and locked down as much as you can. The Covid ship will sail.

  3. I'm glad writing gave you comfort when you became a widow. It was too hard for me to write during the first years of widowhood but I'm grateful to be writing again now.

  4. Hi,
Loss slows us down. I have experienced losing my husband recently, like last year. Writing kept me going. I don't have any children so I can't imagine how a mother feels losing her son, but I believe it is a terrible pain with much anger behind it.
I hope you find yourself writing out that pain and anger so that you can once again take a chance on enjoying your life.
Wishing you all the best. Have a joyful Christmas and a safe passage into 2021.

      Keep well and safe.

  5. I tend to write poetry when I'm overwhelmed by big emotions. It's such a great way to express ourselves.

  12. It's wonderful that writing has been such a lifeline for you, Yvonne! I always enjoy your poems. I'm in awe, really; because I find poetry especially hard to write. I heard today that the UK has approved a vaccine! Here's hoping that we'll both be out enjoying walks and meeting people in the near future. Hugs to you, my friend!

    1. Thanks for your comment Louise, Yes I heard about the vaccine but due to past experiences of having vaccines in my life am unsure about the Covid one as it is new and side effects not known. will have to give this one plenty of thought.

  13. I like what Alex said in his comment; maybe writing about the pain will help you; at least to get your feelings down on paper.

Perhaps Yvonne, the lockdown can be an impetus to restart writing again-with that extra vigor. It will not then be a long day! Stay safe!

  15. It was beacause of the lockdown that have caused me not to write so often. I started to write a book about the life of my late son but find I can't get on with it......yet.

  19. Writing sounds like a good idea. When you start out you sometomes do not know how it will end. But just writing might make you feel better. It sometimes helps me. So, here's to you and your poetry or stories.
