be a time of remembering 9/11. I too have a 9/11 memory which happened 3 years
prior to the awful happenings in the US.
I wrote the poem below as though my husband was speaking to our children back in 2003
when I started to get the family issues I still now have.
VOICE OF THE PAST....HOPE FOR THE FUTURE:
Do you think I wanted to leave you
Just as my first grandchild I did view?
You know my three dear children
I thought the world of you.
I now have three grandsons
And a precious granddaughter too.
I may be out of sight,
But I'm never far away from you.
Do you think I wanted to leave you?
And let your mother be all alone?
Do you realise what she's been through
If only I could phone.
Do you think I wanted to leave you
I left your mother in "Good Hands?"
I know you will love and protect her,
But that wasn't in my plans.
But I did have to leave you,
And I did have to go.
I do know what's going on,
But my feelings I can't show.
Life's not about possessions,
Money, greed or gain.
It's all about compassion,
Helping loved ones through their pain.
So today(9/11) at this time of year,
That I went away.
May God Bless you all......and be happy,
For I only know too well how precious is every day.

This is such a touching story, Yvonne. Thanks for sharing it. My father passed away on 9/11, 1964. I was in my twenties, so I had him for a few years. I'm kind of down this month because my oldest son also passed on 9/12, 1957, when he was 2 days old. Happy days are also in September. My youngest son was born 9/9/71 and his son was born 9/9. A month of memories for sure. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your sad memory dates Beverly, It do hit hard when they come, but as you say there are also good days in September.
DeleteYvonne.
So often we take our days for granted or even wish them away. You are so right that each day is precious.

Hi Lee, thanks for the comment, I sometime get a wee bit morbid as I get older, though I think everyone goes through that stage in life.
