A TRIBUTE FOR MOTHER'S DAY (SUNDAY)
Written 1998:
MY MUM:
You were a mum in a million,
One with a heart of gold.
Your first priority was your family,
Your memory will never grow old.
Although your life was very tough,
You taught me right from wrong.
You set me a good example,
Your love made me strong.
I thank you for so many things,
You sacrificed for me.
Yes, life for you was very tough,
Dad died when I was three.
Throughout my life you were always there,
When I needed you.
Recently the roles were reversed
As I spent your last day with you.
As I sat and held your hand
As you passed from one life to another.
With tears in my eyes, I said my goodbyes
To a person I was proud to call mother.

She was a strong lady to raise you by herself.

ReplyDeleteThis is so moving Yvonne! Every one will have to face up to this episode one day. The day when the future suddenly feels so uncertain and menacingly mysterious! Great lines!

Thanks for your kind comment and wise words, I didn't realise at the time of that event that in another two months would be doing the same for my dear husband. Hard to take in at the time, and still is at times especially when I went through hell with someone else for years....hence the move.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit.
I remember this beautiful poem of tribute. Makes me think of all the sacrifices my own mother made for me and my siblings and how much I miss her now.
