WELCOME TO THE A TO Z CHALLENGE 2015:
TO-DAY ITS THE 18TH LETTER:
I WILL CHOOSE A SONG TITLE,
THEN WRITE MY OWN POEM:
R
is for
REFLECTIONS:
RECORDED BY
DIANA ROSS AND
THE SUPREMES:
To day as I stand behind you son
Tears spring to my eyes.
My mind goes back to the day
Life for you begun.
It then wanders on to your first
Day at school.
And the passion you had for
The game of football (soccer)
A passion that outgrew your
Schoolboys days.
As I recollect the many teams
That you played.
Many people were proud
Of the success that you become.
But there were no one prouder
Than your loving dad......and I your dear mum.
Then black clouds loomed,
In the skies above.
As we bade a final farewell
To those that we loved.
Amid your grief and pain,
You decided to move to Sunny Spain.
A decision that was to alter your life.
Twas there you met Kelly, now to be your wife.
As I stand behind you
As you exchange your vows at the altar,
I wish you health and happiness,
To a dear son and Kelly my new daughter.
Twas there you met Kelly, now to be your wife.
As I stand behind you
As you exchange your vows at the altar,
I wish you health and happiness,
To a dear son and Kelly my new daughter.

Hi human, Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteI had a really difficult time finding your blog. Still, finally, I have arrived and sorry it's been so long. My human is sleeping and thus I shall leave a comment.
I hope that the marriage of your son to your new daughter in law is symbolic of happier times for all of you, my lovely human friend.
Doggy hugs, your way,
Penny
Thanks Jack for your comment, I hope Gary feels better soon.

A precious poem for your son and his bride! And the wedding of a lifetime in Spain :) I'm reminded of my son's wedding in Singapore on the beach. Also wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon for a wonderful comment, I'm sure it did remine you of your son's wedding in Singapore......what a beautiful place to be married?

First, that was a moving tribute to your son and daughter in law! Great choice of topic! Second, Diana Ross and the Supremes were one of my wife's favorite groups. She loved them. You should have seen our earlier days, what a mix it was - me solid gold traditional country and her rock and roll and soul. She disliked country and I disliked soul but we found a way to compromise these past 42 years. Here's to hoping your son has many more than that with his bride!
ReplyDeleteHow strange I should choose that song and singers?
DeleteThanks for a lovely comment Gregg and supporting me.
Yvonne.
How sweet that is. You now have two children.
ReplyDeleteI have three children Lee, 2 sons and one daughter, one son who I wrote about today lives in Spain the other two over here, but they have cut me out of their lives, for what reason I don't know.
DeleteJohn in Spain speaks but that is all.

ReplyDeleteYes, it was a lovely weddrng, It is Spanish custom if the Bridegrooms mother is without a man the bridgegroom has to walk his mother down the asile. I felt so proud.

Nice tribute. If we don't have our parents backing us then we're in trouble.
