ISWG: JULY 2017:
HAPPY JULY EVERYONE:
FROM INSECURITY TO........ INTO PERSPECTIVE:
I've been a little insecure of late
Personal issues to name a few.
But I had a rude awakening yesterday,
About that I will relate to you.
I've been nursing a swollen foot,
Painful to say the least.
Looking at my foot now and then
Calling it the "Awful Beast".
I've also been by passing the mirror,
As a stranger looks back at me.
The lines of age are there alright
For everyone to see.
On inpulse yesterday I wrote a poem,
To someone I haven't seen in years.
Their reply shook me terribly,
Had me reduced to tears.
This person has undergone surgery,
For "The Big C"
Immediately I thought of my plight,
In comparrison needlessly.
So what if I've a swollen foot,
It may match my swollen head.?
So what if there are more lines on my face,
Each day as I arise from my bed ?
Too much self pity has taken place,
It goes with living on one's own.
But putting things into perspective,
In future these two issues won't get me down.

Have to keep on looking ahead indeed.

Thank you Karen for your most uplifting comment.

We think we have it bad until we see someone who has it worse.
ReplyDeleteSo very true Diane.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. And you are so right. What looms as a large issue for us pales when we see what other people are dealing with.
ReplyDeleteHope that foot is better soon.
Thank you Sandra for your kind words.

Hope your foot heals. If that's the worst thing then that's still not bad.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex, I am going to get some treatment done on my foot.

You make some excellent points. Our struggles may seem hard, but there is far worse out there. I have to remind myself constantly. I hope your friend wins the battle. Many do with the big C.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your comment Sharon, much appreciated.

That quote is so true. Our own problems may seem so huge, but once we see what others are going through, we can finally realize that our problems aren't so bad and we have just what we need to defeat them.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right with what you say Chrys, it takes time but I'll get there.

I just returned from a funeral so I'm in the middle of appreciating what I have just like you. Hope your foot feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to attend a funeral, Thanks for your kind wishes Susan.

Great poem and great lesson. There is always a person in worse shape. Still here's hoping your foot gets better.
