IWSG MARCH 2021:

ISWG MARCH 2021:

Welcome to march every one.

Hope it will be a better month for all.

As always thanks go to Alex and team

for this amazing group.

MY TIME OF FEELING INSECURE:

I am going through a time,

Of feeling somewhat insecure.

I have this decision to make.

That will effect me for evermore.

You see for a month,

I've awaited my doctor's reply.

Whether or not I can have the jab,

Many inseure moments have gone by.

Yesterday he phoned me,

Saying "All Will Be Well".

But I have reservations.

That to you I tell.

Each time I've had a vaccine

Early on I may add.

I had awful reactions.

At the time felt awfully sad.

But this one is somewhat different,

With it being a pandemic jab.

I know deep down I ought to,

But second thoughts I do have.

I have to let him know by Friday,

As he's going away on leave.

To turn up at his surgery,

And roll up my blessed sleeve.?

  1. I know several people who've had a reaction and felt like they had the flu for a day. If you can handle that, do it. Just be sure someone knows when you get the second shot and can check on you, even if just by phone.

    1. I get concerned that should I get a reaction I am totally alone apart from my daughter miles away on the phone. Also being told since I was young NOT to have vaccine this doctor I have only seen a few times and am still "Getting To Know Him.

  2. I'm sorry that you have had bad reactions to vaccines before. I hope you will call your doctor and get your shot because it will be a step closer for you to be able to see your family and others. I can't wait to get mine because I really need to see my mom, whose dementia is getting worse, but it's not safe to go into her facility until I'm vaccinated. But I have at least a few months of waiting left.

    1. I know you're right Natalie but being alone especially at night is not reassuring. I am sorry to hear about your mother, must be a worry for you.
      You and her take care.

    1. Not very brave when it comes to vaccines but deep down I know it's for the best. As my daughter tells me over the phone "I Can Advise You But The Decision Is Yours".
      Take care Joanne.

  4. It's not an easy decision for everyone. I've got my appointment on Friday b/c I'm classified as an essential caregiver for my mom (with dementia in a nursing home). I have an allergy to a preservative used in the flu vaccines so can't have those - glad I'm in the clear for this one. Good luck to you!

    1. Good luck for Friday Jemi, sorry to hear about your mother..... not a pleasant thing and such a worry for you. Hope that preservative is not in this vaccine..... I have never had the flu jab.
      Take care.

  5. I guess you're trying to decide about the Covid vaccine. If you're worried about Covid, it's probably best for you to get it. Stay healthy!

    1. I am extremely worried Sherry, but from past experiences of vaccines when younger the reactions were not nice.
Hope all is well with you and family.

  6. I never had any reservations . . . just a grandson I can't wait to hug again! But preexisting reactions can make you think long and hard. If your doctor agrees, I'd say go for it. You may have 'aged out' of the adverse reactions. The J&J is supposed to have fewer but I went with Pfizer because it was the first available. 1st round, no problem. 2nd is coming up Friday.

    1. Hello Nancy, pleased you came by. I too can't wait to see my family although all my grandchildren are in their 20s. I don't know this doctor very well or he me so perhaps that's why I'm uncertain. I wish you well for Friday.
      Take care.

  7. Unless you get the Johnson & Johnson 1-shot vaccine, the other two are very different from all other vaccines, so maybe your reaction will be different.

  9. Tough decision for sure, Yvonne. As you know, I had a flu-like reaction to my first and second Covid Pfizer shots, and I'm still lacking some energy. But, I have no regrets. I feel so relieved at having protection, and I know I would have been very sick or died if I had caught the virus. It took about four hours for the effects of the shot to hit me. If you decide to take it, perhaps your daughter could check on you frequently by phone during the first day or two. Feeling protected is so worth it. And, you can get your hair done! Whatever, you must decide what is right for you. Good luck and please take care! Hugs to you!

    1. Thank you Louise, sorry you had those reactions but you are the other side of the vaccines now. I have some thinking to do. I know my daughter would phone but being entirely on my own to cope is my problem.
      Take care and keep safe.
      Yvonne.

  10. Would rather give it a pass. There is no hurry Yvonne. There is always a next time so long as you may not be one of the front-liners.

  11. I advise anyone to get it, but I think you're right to worry if you've had bad reactions to previous vaccines. We'd all like to trust our doctors to know best, but I hope you make the right choice for you. Prayers for you.
