TODAY'S MEMORIES:
As everyone may be aware
Today is the 11th of September.
A day in the calendar,
That the world will always remember,
The awful attack in New York
Twnety years ago,
Still brings tears to one's eyes,
As the years do go.
I visited "Ground Zero"
Whilst in New York City.
Have lost the photo I declare,
To me such a pity.
I felt very humbled,
That day at the "Ground Zero" site.
To share the sorrow of the folk,
In darkness and in light.
I also have a 9/11 of my own,
To you I will relate.
You see three years previously,
I lost my husband I can state.
(pic above)
Back in 1998 on 11th. September
He lost his battle for life.
So today I will remember him
With happiness .... not tears and strife.
I will recall the happy years,
That we spent together.
Coming out on top,
Through the occasional stormy weather.
I will be also thinking of you all,
As this day proceeds.
A day and date one cannot forget.
Wherever your life my lead.

So very sorry, Yvonne.
ReplyDeleteAnd how things have changed in twenty years. The president led prayer on the Capital steps that day. Sadly, that would never happen now...
Thank you Alex, Yes things have certainly changed, Will be thinking of you all.

Indeed, such a memorable day. Glad you can think of all the good years with your husband - he sounds like quite a dear man as you've written about him quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteand 9/11/2001 is a shocking memory for me as I put in my post today. It has changed our lives forever.
Take care on this day and the rest of the weekend.

A doubly sad day for you, Yvonne. I hope you found joy in memories of your husband. I received my booster shot for covid early on the 11th, so I spent the day wiped out on the couch. I watched a lot about 9/11 on tv. It will always horrify me. My vaccination was fine this time ~ Only a very sore arm and some fatigue. Much better than my first two shots. I hope you have a great week. Hugs to you, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi Louise, thanks for coming by, Pleased your Booster vaccine went well, I think it will be around December when I get mine.
DeleteMay you and hubby remian well and take care.
Yvonne.
The day 9/11 is forever etched in our mind more so to you Yvonne. Sorry that it is a sad day for you. Very brave of you to face it with positive thoughts. When Hank was in NYC Hank got discount tickets for same-day Broadway Performance at the WTC. BTW the view from the top was fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHank
Yes Hank a most traumatic day , That was good for you to see that Broadway show. Myself have many memories of times I've visited the US.
